Scott Lesner


Scott is a partner recruiter acting for law firms on a retained/exclusive basis and for partners/teams considering a move. He has helped law firms hire and partners/teams move across the full range of practice areas and from senior full equity to immediate partnership level. He has also assisted US firms making office openings. Gathered over 20+ years, Scott has extensive contacts as well as deep expertise and experience in the partner recruitment field – a potent combination for clients and candidates alike.

Scott has an advisory rather than sales style of recruitment. Reflecting this, he is well known for his market knowledge. He is regularly recommended between different practice groups at law firm clients and from candidate partners/teams to others.

Scott facilitates law firm partner level placements and team moves through intimate knowledge of specific opportunities in the lateral market, introductions to law firm central management and heads of department; and advising on business plans, restrictive covenants and remuneration negotiations.

Scott graduated from the University of Nottingham with 2.1 LLB (Hons) before attending the College of Law, London where he undertook the Legal Practice Course. He trained with CMS Cameron McKenna, qualifying in 1999, and subsequently practised as an energy/projects lawyer. He moved into legal recruitment with Deacon in November 2001 before joining Shilton Sharpe Quarry in January 2005 and returning to Deacon in March 2009.

Interests: Scott is married and with three busy teenage children. He enjoys playing football and, upholding a family tradition, having a season ticket at Spurs with a group of family and friends.

Surprising fact about Scott: Scott is the Deacon Oracle. He has a photographic memory for partner moves (and for football trivia).
